"Hartford, Vermont" by Kevin Ladka

This here is a picture of Hartford High School. It’s located in Hartford, Vermont. There’s about 610 students at our school. The average student in a class is 15 to 25 students.  In school you have 4 blocks a day and switch half way through the year. They have lots of different sports and clubs. The student population is made up of kids from Hartford, Cornish and Hartland.

This building here is a very old building. I don’t know much about it but it is next to the Hartford Historical Society. The Historical Society preserves the history of Hartford. There are many old building in Hartford such as the Wilder School. The Wilder School was built in 1912 but was condemned and rebuilt in 1992 for health reasons. Now the school is used to host the RAP program or the Regional Alternative Program.

This building here is the Upper Valley Aquatic Center or the UVAC. It was built in 2010. In the building there are 2 pools and a fitness center. At the UVAC you can take fitness classes or be in a swim team. The UVAC is a great way to be part of the community and is a great place to swim and workout.

This is the White River. It is runs through Vermont and into the Connecticut River. The river is 60.1 miles long. Back in August this river flooded 50 feet higher than usual because of Hurricane Irene. Hurricane Irene affected much of New England. The hurricane destroyed a lot of houses along the White River and flooded a lot of Vermont. This photo was taken during the spring of 2012.
In this photo there are layers. The layers are in the trees. Also there are lines of thirds where the trees start and end. In the water and the tree there is a lot of color contrast. There is a bisect because the trees separate the ski and the water. There is texture in the trees and in the water.

This is a portrait of Richard and Sally Fernandes. They have lived in Vermont most of their lives. Right now they are residents in West Hartford, but they have lived in Quechee and other places in Vermont. I took this picture because they both have lived in Vermont their whole lives and are true Vermonters. I say this because they have worked hard all there lives and they hunt, fish and are outdoors people. The deer you see in the background was shot by Sally. It’s a 6 pointer and weighed about 170 lbs.
